Never a Nobody
Life is full of journeys.
School.
Marriage.
Job.
House.
Baby.
What we’re less likely to bring up in casual conversation is
the deep stuff we go through while on these journeys. I feel like the Lord recently bookended a year long journey of self-discovery. Not that I know it all, but I’ve
discovered pieces over the course of this year that I feel can finally be
summed up.
I’ve never been a
nobody.
(Neither have you
ever been a nobody).
My whole life people have poured into me that I can “be
somebody” regarding my musical talent. How capable I am of achieving,
essentially, what amounts to a stardom status one day. Now before this goes on
to sound conceited, it’s not. I promise. These encouragements and compliments,
though stated without malicious intent, built me to believe that I could “be
somebody” one day. Well hold up, if I have believed all along that I
could “be somebody” then what does that say I currently believe about myself?
That I’m a nobody…until I’m somebody.
That I’m a nobody…until I’m somebody.
The reality is, Jesus
didn’t die for nobodies. God didn’t send His one and only Son to die for a
bunch of nobodies. He died for you and for me. That makes us somebodies.
o
He knew us when we were in the womb and knit us
together (Psalm 139:13 NIV).
o
He knows when we sit and when we rise (Psalm
139:2 NIV).
o
He is familiar with all our ways (Psalm 139:3
NIV).
o
He came to give his life as a ransom for many
(Matthew 20:28 NIV).
And someone who gives their life as a ransom, doesn’t do it
because they don’t care or because that person is a nobody. By the grace of
God, Jesus covered all the sin I or you would ever commit, and gave His life
for us so we could have the greatest gift. Eternal life with Him and hope, peace, & purpose in this crazy world in the meantime. In return, we get to use our
abilities, gifts and talents so other people can learn that they are indeed
somebodies as well. Somebodies who are FORGIVEN and LOVED in the eyes of the
Creator of the universe.
So just as I’ve learned, it doesn’t matter if I’m a stay at
home mom or career woman, a music artist, worship leader, writer or baby
bookworm attender. I am enough, where I’m at, in this phase of life, doing what
I’m doing, because Jesus didn’t die for a nobody. And YOU are enough. We can be
satisfied in a world that says we can’t because God sent His Son to die for us.
THIS is reason to live life to the
fullest where we are.
THIS is reason to step out in
faith.
THIS is reason to stop comparing
ourselves to others.
Jesus died for somebodies and we are those somebodies. With
that being said,
how are you going to live this life for Him?

I love this Ann! This is so encouraging! Thanks for sharing your heart and what you've learned with the world!
