Potty Talks with Jesus
Too often, the only place I can get away- whether it's because I'm at work or at school, is when I go to the potty.
You're probably thinking "TMI" (in case you're unaware- Too Much Information). I get it, and if that's the case, I'm sorry. But I often find and have found myself standing in the stall just having a quick chat with Jesus before I move on to the next event of my day. More often than not, I'm standing in the stall in an absolute panic needing the Lord to calm my anxious spirit. Usually feeling something similar to pic below.
Let Me Elaborate...
Throughout grad school, I made frequent trips to the potty because I was drowning in fear. My fears all stemmed from the language of Spanish. I was spending time around so many good speakers, readers, writers, and listeners of the language, and I was afraid I wouldn't know
the answers if I was asked,
the tense they were speaking in,
or how to produce it myself.
EEEEEEEEEEEEK!
I had NO idea why God had me pursuing a master's degree to teach high school Spanish, and had no idea how I'd make it through the semester, let alone to graduation. Well, I have yet to finish my degree (due to my American Idol journey- more on that later), and still don't know why He wants me to pursue this degree, but when I don't have time to get in the Word or journal all my fears on paper- the potty stall is where I "let it all go." Pun intended.
Yes, this is my powder room potty.
...But really, those few minutes in the potty stall become a safe haven for me. I simply tell Him what I'm fearing, why I'm anxious, and prayerfully surrender what's on my mind. To me, potty talks with Jesus are the best.
So my question for you is, where's your potty?
You may, like me, have a bathroom stall OR your safe haven may look a bit different. Maybe you have "mailbox talks with Jesus" as you walk to the box and back. Whatever it is,
find that moment,
pray in that moment,
surrender in that moment and
go forward with your day KNOWING Jesus has your backside.
Sincerely,
AnnD the Potty Talker
